Amphibians are vital for a thriving ecosystem. In Switzerland specifically, many amphibian species are critically endangered or are at high risk of becoming endangered. New methods enabling and simplifying the detection of such critical species are needed.

Simplifying detection for habitat management
Finding certain amphibian species through traditional monitoring is difficult as they are elusive and hard to spot by eye. A comparison of our rapid detection method with traditional monitoring methods in the Canton of Aargau demonstrated that the rapid detection method outperformed traditional methods while being less invasive and less labor intensive.
